A Glastonbury Tale is a visual exploration of the spiritual, historical, and mystical life of Glastonbury through the eyes of its townspeople, celebrations and visitors.
Filmed and produced by Kevin Redpath, set to a rock 'n' roll Requiem Mass by Judge Smith.
I've long wanted to make a film about Glastonbury—the town we've lived in for more than forty years.
The first time I heard Judge’s rock 'n' roll Requiem Mass, it felt like cinema. I found his music vast and emotional and thought it might be the perfect soundtrack.
I hope the film honours Judge’s extraordinary music — and serves as a celebration of everything this remarkable town stands for.
I composed the Requiem Mass in my head back in 1979, at the age of 25, without being able to read music or write a score.
With help from arranger Michael Brand, the music came to life, but it wasn’t recorded until 2013—on little more than love and savings.
Now living near Glastonbury, I continue to be inspired by the town’s vibrant and extraordinary spirit, so beautifully captured in Kevin’s film.
